Bio: Known to my friends as “Fiddzy” I have come from a strong art and design background with a constant and dedicated passion towards concept art and its industry. Throughout high school and 6 form Art remained by favourite and most successful class, that lead me towards studying a one year foundation course in Art and Design and then a three year study of BA Hons Graphic Design New Media at the University for the Creative Arts in Epsom, from where I have recently graduated. During my time on the course I have worked using Adobe Flash & Photoshop, 3Ds Max 8 and Corel Painter X, focusing on animation and character design.
Throughout my time studying Graphic Design New Media I was still a keen concept art enthusiast, adapting some of the skills learnt from University into my work. My biggest strength lies in character and creature design from where my passion for the field initially grew, inspired by concept artists like Feng Zhu, Doug Chiang and Dermot Power, The Fantasy Artwork of Boris Vallejo and Ciruelo Cabral and several of the artists who work on the illustrations found within the Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manuals.
When it comes to my own work I like to merge the traditional medium of pencil and paper with its more modern equivalent of a Wacom and Photoshop. Initially drawing with pencil by hand then scanning it into Photoshop to be digitally coloured, shaded and tweaked when necessary. Stylistically I am heavily inspired by the world and things around me, especially within the natural world.
Away from concept art I am a huge fan of computer games, (Xbox 360), and the computer games industry. I am also a big science fiction and film fan, with my favourite film being Die Hard and my second favourite film being Die Hard 2. My favourite television shows are QI and Top Gear and my favourite computer games are currently Halo 3, Gears of War 2 and Mass Effect. I am a big fan of comedy, especially stand-up and I love Heavy Metal Music.
I someday hope to work as a concept artist within either the Computer Game, Film or Television industries.
